What is Spear?
Spear is a FREE employment support programme that helps 16-24 year olds who are not earning or learning, to realise their potential by equipping them with the confidence, motivation and vital skills that they need to go back into education, find a job and succeed in long-term employment.
Spear began in London over 20 years ago and now has almost 20 centres across the country, including two now based in Bristol - one in Clifton and one based here, at St Andrew's church in Avonmouth. Over 12,000 trainees have been enrolled in the programme and almost 70% of young people who took part are back studying or in work a year after they have completed the programme.

After every Spear foundation course, we have a celebration, which is a great opportunity to hear more about the programme and the impact that Spear has on people's lives.

Volunteering at Spear
At Spear, volunteers play a vital role in supporting young people on the Spear Programme to unleash their potential. We have a range of volunteering opportunities - from leading mock interviews, to supporting young people after they have finished a programme. We provide training and support along the way and it is a great way to support the next generation!
