The Bristol North West Foodbank has plans to expand its warehouse to make more space onsite for the needs of the foodbank and the local community.
At the time of planning this expansion, it was decided that it would be a good opportunity to address other local needs by building two flats above the warehouse to accommodate two refugee households, a group that the Foodbank has had increased connection with in recent years and know that accommodation is difficult to come by.
The Foodbank (and St Andrews Church) has many volunteers who have skills and knowledge that would be beneficial to refugees making Bristol their home. It is our intention to use many of the connections that Bristol North West Foodbank has in place to support the two households that will eventually reside in the flats above the expanded warehouse.
We have now received planning permission from Bristol City Council and have been pressing on with fundraising. We hope to raise all of the funds soon, so that we can commence building work and compile a team for community support.
Julie Cole is our project manager. Please contact her if you have any questions, email: housing@bristolnwfoodbank.org.uk
